Shutting it Down

Exciting news! I’m moving my blog somewhere much better and much more “me”! If you’ve been around awhile, you know I’ve already moved once which might prove that I’m a little flighty. I’m actually moving back to my old blogspot blog. Trust me though, you’re going to like this MUCH better. Go here and bookmark the new link http://www.justthelovely.blogspot.com. There are already tons of posts from before my first move. Sheesh. Confusing isn’t it? You’ll love it!

I’ll tell you a not-so-well kept secret about Lydia, and that is that she’s a little on the clutsy side. For instance, there was the time at the airport when she crouched down to retrieve her boarding pass and fell over backwards from the weight of her backpack. The other passengers just scowled while she squirmed like an overturned bug trying to get back up. Where’s your sense of humor people? When I caught her doing figure-eights down a hill in her Alice in Wonderland Halloween costume this weekend I held my breath until she safely landed on the sidewalk. Truth be told though, she comes by this trait rightly which sometimes makes us a comical pair. I don’t know how many times I’ve stopped short when walking only to have her slam into me from behind because she’s not looking. Copy of Picture 043

Last night my father-in-law (here-to-after referred to as pops), had a heart attack. Don’t worry…he’ll be fine, but I thought the story was worth telling. He was at work and it just so happened that his daughter is a paramedic and was at work with him that day. To make a long story short, she recognized the signs and rushed him the two minutes to the hospital where three blockages were found in his heart.

These are his feet…..

….. which really have nothing to do with anything, but I don’t know who reads my blog. You might be into that sort of thing and now YOU feel closer to Pops.

Back to my story though.

This is him helping us fry our first Thanksgiving turkey. I dare say that frying will not be his method of turkey cooking this year.

Acres of Hope – Shane and Shane

He will allure her

He will pursue her

And call her out

To wilderness with flowers in His hand

She is responding

Beat up and hurting

Deserving death

But offerings of life are found instead

How the story ends is

Love and tenderness in Him

Not safe, but worth it.

We love it! Especially the dueling fiddles in “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”.

Warning: Don’t fall of your roof. I got my ER and ambulance bills yesterday…$15,000. Thank God for all of my heroes though.

Reading a book by the heater while the wind rattled the cabin.

Late-night sewing projects after everyone was in bed.

I was reading through someone else’s blog when I noticed a comment from one of her other readers that I thought was cute and so true.  She said that in her own life, God has “picked up some of the smashed-to-bits pieces and made them into the most beautiful irnonstone pitcher.” And then, when she “thought it couldn’t get better, he plunked some peonies in.” (See Flower Patch Farmgirl)

When God comes to us with healing, I believe it’s extravagant and thorough. Just as we can’t fully understand our circumstances, we also can’t get outside ourselves to see the full potential in our restoration.

On another note, I wish I could delete my last post from yesterday about baking brownies and apple crip. I guess for the sake of keeping it real, I’ll leave it and just tell you that I did nothing that I said I was going to do. I sat around and read and ate dill pickles all afternoon.

Busy night planned tonight. My sewing machine is finally fixed thanks to a sweet co-worker who was able to repair it for me. My first project will be a coffee cozy which looks simple enough. I’m going to be prepping some pumpkin swirl brownies and apple crisp a-la-Marth Stewart for our Bible study tomorrow night. I’ll let you know how it all turns out.a99981_pumpkinswirlbar2_l
